Bellville Golf Club
Golf Course Information

The course was originally a 9-hole design by Bob Grimsdell and play officially began during 1958 when it was known as the Welgemoed Golf Club. In 1981 it was upgraded to 18 holes by course architect Bill Kerr. Major changes were later undertaken by Mark Muller and the “new” course came into play early in 1995. The first clubhouse was in the old Welgemoed farmhouse (which was built in 1956 and has since been restored and is now the delightful “De Oude Welgemoed” restaurant.) In 1969 the clubhouse was relocated to where the Karate club is today and since 1981 has been housed in its present facility. Substantial improvements have been undertaken over the last couple of years to make the course more player-friendly.

Bellville Golf Club is situated in Cape Town’s Northe...rs suburbs, 25km from Cape Town International Airport. When the 18-hole course was constructed in 1957, a great effort was made to incorporate the contours of the Welgemoed Valley in which it was built. Measuring 6000m, Belville Golf Club will test all levels of golfers. A visit to Bellville Golf Club would remind you of the beach, with the many bunkers in pay, as well as an abundance of water, on five of the holes. Features of Bellville Golf Club are the numerous, mature, skyscraper-like trees that guard several fairways. It would be advisable to bring your straight game to Bellville! Perhaps this is a reason why Bellville Golf Club has such a star studded history in competitive golf, with its teams having won many Western Cape events. There is a pro shop on site, with carts to hire. Read more
