Pretoria Golf Course is the oldest club in Pretoria, and, with over 100 years of golfing to reminisce over, offers a great sense of tradition. The parklands-style course provides good value for money and should appeal to medium to high handicap players. Ample water on the front nine (water is present on seven of the nine), ensures that golfers are kept on their toes. The grueling stroke 1 18th hole ensures that players are well-challenged before heading up for a well-deserved drink at the impressive clubhouse. Golf is possibly not the first thing that comes to mind... when one mentions Pretoria, however the Highveld climate lends itself to fantastic golfing conditions all year round. As a result, Pretoria is blessed with many great golf courses. There are old well established golf clubs like Pretoria Country Club, Waterkloof Golf Club and Wingate Country Club as well as a host of more modern golf estates, such as Woodhill, Silver Lakes and Centurion Country Club.Slightly further outside Pretoria one can find an Ernie Designed Gem of a golf course in Copperleaf. This course epitomises the idea of designing a big golf course. Everything from the length of the course to the width of the fairways and the size of the greens and bunkers is bigger than you would find at an older more traditional golf club and is well worth the journey out of Pretoria to play it. No matter which of Pretoria’s golf courses you choose to play you will find a pleasant and tranquil environment, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Read more
